iphone buying online
if you buy iphone online in canada and put the chip in, will it work?

ok i heard that if you buy the iphone 3g (not from fido or rogers)somehow and put a chip without any plans just a normal chip for fido it screws up the iphone, is it true?

It sounds like you’re asking about unlocked iPhones. If you purchase an unlocked iPhone (online or elsewhere) then you could put the SIM card from any GSM provider (including Rogers and Fido) into the phone and it will work. But if SIM card is not registered to any plan, you will simply get a message stating “unregistered SIM” and it will not allow you to connect. Also, if it was not obtained from Rogers or Fido directly, then at least one of the features (visual voicemail) will not work.

iPhone 3GS Screen Protectors & Cases?

I’m getting an iPhone this weekend, I was looking at cases and by far my favorite is this one:

http://www.iskin.com/revo2_overview.html

I’ll be getting it in red, and I know it comes with a screen protector that reduces glare slightly. On AT&T’s site they have a few for sale, one being anti-glare, one mirror, and one privacy.

Which would be the best, or should I just use the one that comes with the case? I’m not sure if the mirror would be better than anti-glare, I’m not so concerned about the privacy one.

The iskin one works really great. The one that comes with the case works great for me. Get it its really good!

iphone manual update

CECT P168 seems to be a hot search keywords on the internet, and getting more and more popular right now, I just curious about how popular it is, so I did a search on wordtracker, and the amazing result is that the keyword “CECT p168 games” has 2279 searches per day, and the other search terms are software, firmware update. I wrote some articles about the CECT cell phones before, and would like to give you some more information on this article.

P168 doesn’t support java games, it comes with some built-in mini game. So even if you download the mobile java games, and transfer them to your p168 phone, you can’t play with them.

P168 is not a PDA, so there is no mobile OS installed like Symbian and Windows Mobile. So you can’t install software on it. And the firmware for P168 is not updatable, unlike IPHONE, the firmware can be updated easily. CECT cell phones didn’t come with this feature, so when you got the P168 on hand, you should understand that you can’t install software, applications and games on it, and the firmware is not updatable too, scalability is almost impossible.

Even there are several limitations for the CECT P168, it has some other decent features that we should consider. The phone has dual SIM card support, one can switch the SIM manually, the camera, video recorder, mp4 player, multi-language supported, touch screen control, 3.5 inch display and some other features that a normal phone have. The interface is user friendly, and the speaker is amazing, turn your music player on, and it acts like a portable MP3 player.

iphone mp3 downloads

By now everyone knows that the iphone is way more than just a cell phone, it’s a multi-media communications and entertainment device. I mean, the iphone is not only sleek and beautiful in design, but it’s loaded with the latest Web 2.0 interactivity.

The iphone is a cell phone with an mp3 player, a digital camera, real time video, Google Maps, photo storage, email and internet access. Gee, it seems like this smartphone has just about everything anybody could want, that is . . . except FM radio.

There used to be a time when the portable transistor radio was the only way a person could take their music with them wherever they went. Back in the day, this was a major attraction, because radio was king and everybody could get at least two or three stations whether they were sitting in the park, hanging out at the beach, or listening in while they were at work.

The problem with the old style transistor radio was that it wasn’t very personable. Everybody could hear what you were listening to, which could be disruptive in certain situations. Then Sony comes along with the Sony Walkman.

Suddenly, we could all listen to our favorite music on cassette tapes while on the go. Actually, this was pretty revolutionary back in the day because most people had a decent collection of albums, but you couldn’t listen to them anywhere but on your home stereo. The boom box was in, but that was big and cumbersome.

Sony made it popular to carry around a collection of select music, in a compact unit, that didn’t rely on what your local DJ was playing on the radio. As the Walkman became more popular, the less convenient portable radios became a thing of the past – almost. Sony does make a portable radio that’s pretty cool.

The lack of a radio on the Walkman personal cassette player is directly linked to the iPhone of today. There is speculation that manufacturers do not include radio on CD, mp3 players and the iphone due to technical restraints and wanting to keep the units compact.

However, if the iphone can access the internet, why is it so difficult to include radio access as well?

A multimedia device like the iphone should definitely include some kind of streaming FM radio service. Even though radio has been marginalized by mp3 downloaded content, there is still a large group of people who desire to have the option of listening to their favorite radio stations as well.

Apple does have iTunes radio that you can easily listen to on your computer. If you’ve been there, you know how great the selection is. We now have more access to radio stations than ever before, yet, we still can’t easily get radio on our ipod or iphone.

Sigh.

I have to admit that there must be a practical reason why Apple did not include FM radio as part of the iphone applications, but so far, there’s no explanation for this to the consumers.

Hey, but maybe there is reason to be hopeful that this feature will be added in the future. There’s already a rumor that the next generation of the iphone may include an application that can stream FM radio. For now, our iphone FM radio dreams are just wishful thinking.

iphone connecting to exchange server
How do I determine the IMAP address on an Exchange server?

I have a user who wishes to have his Iphone connect to our Exchange server from anywhere using IMAP. I confirmed that the IMAP service is indeed running on the Exchange Server. My question is, how do I deternine what the incoming and outgoing mail server names are in this case?

I think reading this article should help you.

http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Connecting_POP_And_IMAP_Clients_To_MS_Exchange_Server.html

It covers the subject well and answers most questions.
The server address is the same address, it doesn’t matter what connection is used. So the server name should also be the same unless you specifically set DNS for the exchange server and entered an A record and MX records.
