iphone new updates

The Internet has grown at a very rapid rate, and it only gets better by the day. Every device that’s connected to the Internet (Let it be some high end Web Server, VoIP Switches, Your PC, that new sleeky looking iPhone you’ve fallen in love with or any other device you may imagine) needs to have some unique identity. Without an identity the device cannot communicate or receive any communication. Think of it as your house address, or perhaps your phone number – Its unique and your colleagues and peers use it to reach to you. In Internet terms, this unique address is referred to as the IP Address.

The current IP Addressing system allows to have roughly about 3.3 billion unique addresses. However, with the rapid growth of the Internet and the devices connecting to it, there are simply not enough addresses available to uniquely allocate to all. Now, that’s a problem! Nevertheless, every problem has a good, or sometimes, not so good solution. So, the solution for the scarce IP Address problem? – NAT.

NAT is a mechanism of taking a unique IP address and sharing it with a pool of devices. You may despair, “Thats like sharing my house address with someone else!”, or perhaps, “Thats like sharing my phone number with someone else!”, well, in a sense, it’s something like that, but its not that bad. Imagine your work place, not everyone has a unique/direct desk-phone number. You’ve got the primary phone number and employees have extensions. Your extension could be 1001, and your peers Tom, Dick and Harry could be having 1002, 1003, 1004 respectively. One important thing to note would be, your extension is not globally unique, some stranger in the next office could be having extension 1001, and many strangers in many parts of the world could be having the same extension number, but when you pair your company primary phone number with your extension (i.e. 212-777-3456 Ext: 1001) that’s unique, and nobody else anywhere in the world could have the same pair at the same time with you.

Similarly, most of the Internet users / devices usually belong to a private pool/group – For instance, your workplace, college etc. Since there is only few too many IP addresses, we give extensions to users. In Internet terms, this extension is known as a Private IP Address. Your organization would have a unique IP address (often referred to as the Public IP Address), and users within the organization would get their own Private IP Address. It all makes sense isn’t it, What is public to the Internet is called Public, and what is private to a group is called Private. There could be many users in others parts of the world using the same private IP address as your own, however, as in the phone/extension analogy, the Private and Public IP addresses together form a Unique pair.

How do you identify if you’re having a Private IP or Public IP address? Very simple. If you IP address starts with 10.x.x.x or (172.16.x.x upto 172.31.x.x) or 192.168.x.x then it means you’re having a Private address.

The Key phone systems / the PBX systems in your office remembers your desk and sends the calls which are for your extension, similarly, there are devices installed in your organization/network which is commonly referred to as a Router, to take care of the Private IP, Public IP bridging.

So in its most basic form, NAT is simply the mechanism of taking a single unique public IP and sharing and managing the bridging/pairing with multiple clients/devices having private IPs.

While NAT sounds like a fascinating workaround to the IP address scarcity problem, it has its own limitations and problems. For a more advanced explanation on NAT and the problems related to it, specially in the context of VoIP. This article originated from the Knowledge Base of RedVoIP Networks. iphone company plan
Will the Iphone 3gs be available for verizon?

i have verizon and if there is one thing that they dont have, is the iphone. I have heard rumors about the 3gs coming to verizon, but im not entirely sure. Unfortunately im on my companies plan so i cannot switch to at and t to get the iphone, someone please give me info

Nope. No iphone for at least another year, probably more like two for Verizon. Att and Apple still have a exclusive contractual agreement. Verizon wants to rollout its 4G network first which will make it worth switching from Att. 4G is supposed to be FAST. But you know what? It’s all hype till we actually see it get done (Remember all the Bull about how cool Windows Vista was gonna be and it SUCKED?)

Verizon 4G won’t start till late 2010 at the earliest and is estimated to take 3 years or more for a full rollout nationwide.

In the meantime, Verizon users will have other toys to play with. The Blackberry Storm 2 will be coming out later this year and Verizon will be getting to carry the Palm Pre after Sprint’s exlusive agreement with Palm ends in December.

No iphone yet, but hey…not all bad.

no service searching iphone
What’s wrong with my iPhone 3G?

Ok, I just updated to the iPhone 3G 3.0.1 firmware. Now, my provider’s gone (no service) and my wifi doesn’t work. I have no clue what happened! I downgraded back to 3.0 thinking that would solve the problem, but no, it didn’t.
Wifi Problem: I am right beside my wireless router. I dont get any router on my wifi list. That’s the problem with my wifi. the router’s fine! my brother uses his iphone with it 24/7!

Provider problem: at the corner, it says searching for probably about 10 minutes, then it finally says No service.

What do i do!?

My Baseband is 4.26.08
My Firmware is 3.0.1 (7A400)
It’s a 16 gig white iPhone 3G

What am i supposed to do?

If anyone knows how to fix this annoying problem, please answer.
Thank you.

It’s funny you should mention that because both me and my sister have iPhones and we have had problems with service as of late, like the past 3 days we have had trouble connecting to the Internet and I had the same problem as you do, I did a hard reset by connecting it to my computer and clicking restore and now it has worked fine for a few hours, be sure you back up your iPhone, after you reset and restore it should automatically put everything back on your phone such as apps and texts and contacts but it will not put music back on so you will have to add then on again

how check iphone firmware version
iPhone sound quit working?!?

OK… My iPhone sound was working fine just two days ago… It hasn’t been dropped at all or anything… SOME songs on my phone work, but other dint work at all… I have already tried to replug the headphones that Apple packaged with the phone, restored it, restarted it, checked that the vibrate/silent switch wasn’t showing the red dot (red dot meaning that its on vibrate/silent)… It’s updated to the most current version of firmware(?)… I’ve tried every possible “fix” floating around on the Internet but still haven’t had any success… Right now im re-installing all songs… But that’s not the ONLY problem!! None of my apps work, e.g. when I click on Tapup as soon as the page appears it closes the app and takes me back to the Home screen… Please help me!!

Probably best to take it back to the Apple Store.

Has your iPhone come into contact with water/liquids?
Submersion can cause lots of problems, like bad sound.

If it HAS been submerged, the guys in the apple store will know, as there is a submersion indicator in the headphone jack.

If it hasn’t, I’d take it back, only thing you can do with an Apple product, in my experience.

manage iphone apps
Iphone.HTC Dream or Blackberry Bold?

First of all,if you own one can you tell me what you like about it,what you do not like about it? and if the phone would suit me?
I love to text, but i’m also incredibly busy,I am a student,I want to manage my social life,my family life,my job, school and just recreational things and hobbies at the same time.I’m a bit of a techie,So I don’t think I will have a problem with figuring out the phone.I use facebook, twitter, myspace, last.fm,flickr,… answers(obviously),Hotmail,Gmail, and My school email address.I love apps and I want to be able to use alot like the weather network, shopping apps, and social networking apps.

which phone do you think would suit me? and if not the htc dream or the blackberry or Iphone then what other smartphone

The dream is going to be your best bet. You can have all your apps open simultaneously to receive email, tweets, facebook updates, facebook chat, myspace, listen to last.fm, pandora, grooveshark all at the same time if you wish to. The iphone does not multitask, you wouldn’t be able to do, and receive messages on all those at once.

There are many, many more apps available for Android (Dream) than for blackberry, especially in the social networking range.

Android integrates BEAUTIFULLY with Gmail, Google calendar, your Google Contacts, etc. Make a change on the web, or on the phone and it’s automatically synced with the other, almost instantly.

Gmail is “push” like the blackberry email, meaning when someone sends you an email, it will show up on your Dream in seconds, not minutes…

The dream is getting a little “dated” and you might want to consider a newer Android device. Since you mentioned both the Dream, AND iphone, I’m guessing you haven’t picked a carrier yet, since they are available on different networks. If you want the fastest and most powerful Android available today, look at the Motorola Droid on Verizon (Which adds Google Navigation with voice search and turn-by-turn audio directions for free), otherwise T-Mobile has at least 5 different Android based phones at last count. Sprint has the Hero and the Samsung Moment. Right now AT&T are the only major carrier without an Android option, although they are getting the Sony Expira X10 pretty soon.

Currently there are about 19,000 apps avaialble for Android, and growing at over 3000/month. That’s far short of the iphone’s 100,000 apps, but it’s catching up rapidly, and let’s face it, 19,000 different apps are a lot of apps to look over! PLUS with Android you are not limited to only the applications that Apple wants you to run. Google Market for Android has very few limitations on what kind of apps can be put up (No porn, malicious apps, copyright infringement etc.) but you have the option on Android of installing applications from anywhere, not just the Market. Apple only allows you to download from their store. About 2/3 of the apps on Android Market are free. I have no idea what the break-down is on apple’s market.

You can check out the range of applications available for Android at http://www.androlib.com/

I have the Sprint Hero (switched from blackberry) and absolutely love it!
