for people who own an ipod touch?!? 10 points for best!?

im pretty sure im getting one for christmas =] yay! and i just have a few questions. is the back of it like the old ipod like silver and gets scratched really easily? cause i wanna either get a case for it or that clear paper you like stick on top of it…which do u think i should get? does the touch screen part of it scratch b.c alot of cases don’t have protection for the front screen and idk if its necessary if the front doesn’t scratch?
one last thing- i dont really understand the web apps thing…i was looking on the actual ipod website and their are these web app things that you can get for the ipod touch and the iphone and there are like games…entertainment…A I M and stuff like that. i have heard about people jailbreaking (what is that exactly?) their ipod touches and do you have to do that to get the apps that are actually on the ipod website? cause that doesnt make sense to me. if not, what apps can you get after jailbreaking it that u couldnt get b4? thanks.

about im/aim:you need to jailbreak it to install it.but heres a trick that does not involve insalling anything you just need your wifi connection.open safari go to appsafari(dot)com categories, chat and pick wich one you want ot use click the snap shot not the name of it.save it as a bookmark if you will be using it often.check out the other stuff like i radio, and stuff like that.to install the apps you will need to jailbreak it but if you dont want then thats the alternative.have fun.if you do want to jailbreak you iPod go to youtube search IPOd touch jailbreak for 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 firmware depending on what you have. what is jailbreaking:it is basically opening your iPod touch firmware 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 and installs this installer button to allow other apps to be installed.my iPod still has no problems and if you do jailbreak it you should try it.you can get iPhone apps and other stuff. I installed this apps that allows me to share music from and to other itouches.if you deside to uninstall the installer apps just force restore by holding the hold buttons and menu button when the apple icon appears let go off the hold button only continue to press menu and when iTunes icon appears plug it into your computer and it should do the rest alone. It’ll be back to its factory setting. And mine still syncs with iTunes and it still works. I havnt had a problem with mine since I got it in October
