iphone information technology
What new technology would be a good topic for my ninth grade technology class?

It has to be an “emerging technology” meaning new. It can’t be more than three years old. As in, a phone is not an emerging technology. The Iphone is. I’d like something with enough information to do an oral report and written report on it. Currently on my list, meaning don’t suggest them, are projectable keyboards, the aptera, the iphone, and a computer currently being devloped with microsoft that “reads brain waves”. Thanks!
Do you not ge tit? A phone is not new; the iphone is. A tv is not new, a plasma screen tv is.

Just for the record, the iPhone is not a new technology as the technology that it actually draws from existed years before the iPhone was even conceived. A new technology that I’ve been following recently is Holographic Data Storage.

It’s really interesting because they manage to cram so much data into so little space, bringing new compression techniques to the forefront. Good luck on your selection!

iphone apps review sites
Are there any popular magazines or websites that review popular iPhone/iPod apps?

I’m wondering if there are any sort of “premier” publications or online sites/blogs where people go to read about new, cool apps for the iphone and ipod. Anybody know anything?

You can just read reviews / ratings on iTunes.

If that doesn’t satisfy you, haha, you can check out these websites:

Over the years, Scrabble has been one of the more popular board games for people of all ages. Now you can take your favorite classic Hasbro word game anywhere you go, thanks to the Scrabble iPhone app released by Electronic Arts.

Electronic Arts has been in business since 1982. Since that time, the company, commonly known as EA, has developed many popular games for various gaming consoles, personal computers, wireless devices, and the Internet. EA is headquartered in Redwood City, CA and has grown to the point that it employed over 9000 people worldwide in the year 2008. Today, EA is perhaps best known for its sports and action based video games, including the Madden NFL series and the Need for Speed games. The popularity of EA’s iPhone apps, such as the Scrabble one, cannot be ignored, however.

Since its release on July 9, 2008, the Scrabble iPhone app has sold very well in the iTunes store as well as on Gamestop’s website. In fact, the Scrabble iPhone app is ranked in the top 1300 of over 9600 iPhone and iPod game apps available through Gamestop.

Basic game play is the same as the board game, and the Scrabble iPhone app has many positive points. Users are very pleased with the options for solo play, including the fact that the CPU you play against is actually a challenging opponent and not one that is impossible to beat or far too easily defeated. You can also play alone without a computer opponent. Multiplayer options include pass and play for playing with friends in person, multiplayer Wi-Fi for online play, and even a Facebook app. The clear graphics and ease of play with the Scrabble iPhone app are also praised by users. The low cost of this app only adds to its appeal.

If you enjoy the classic board game of Scrabble, you will definitely love the Scrabble iPhone app. You will be able to enjoy your favorite game and expand your vocabulary everywhere you go. EA has certainly scored a home run with the Scrabble iPhone app, and this app is a must for even the occasional Scrabble player.

HTC Diamond vs. iPhone 3G, what would you pick?

Specs: (Diamond vs. iPhone)
– Memory – (4GB vs. 16GB)
– Screen – (480×640 vs. 320×480)
– Accelerometer on both
– Light sensor on iPhone
– TouchFLO for HTC Touch Diamond
– Data – HSDPA 7.2 vs. HSDPA 3.6
– Camera – 3.15MP vs. 2.0 MP
– FM Radio on HTC Diamond
– Mobile Office on HTC Diamond
– Google Maps on iPhone (Downloadable on HTC)
– Both have A-GPS
– Talk time is twice as long on iPhone (5.5h vs. 10h)
– HTC Diamond supports A2DP

I would personally pick the Touch Diamond. But hey, whatever suits people best.

I would also pick the Touch Diamond because it has more features already in it straight out of the box and even more online since it’s a windows mobile device. Although, I’d prefer the Touch Pro since it has a physical keyboard.

best iphone touch apps 2009

With the Mobile World Congress currently wowing crowds in Barcelona, one fact is increasingly becoming clear: the modern breed of mobile phones needs to have an intuitive interface, to wow consumers. So, let’s take a look at three of the best: the Toshiba TG01, the Palm Pre, and the astonishing Sony Ericsson Idou.

Palm Pre – new and unprecedented

With Windows Mobile growing in user-friendliness and raw power, it’s down to a brand new operating system to really wow us. Say hello to WebOS, as found in the stunning Palm Pre. This takes phone interfaces to a whole new level, easily surpassing the supposed king of mobile phone interfaces, the iPhone. The Palm Pre does this by simple expedient of being at least as user friendly as the iPhone, but with vastly more power and potential. Everything becomes interconnected and synergised, so that the contacts menu on the Palm Pre links into your maps, which links into the browser, which links into email and so on. Everything is interconnected and intuitive, and on top of that, the Palm Pre has one extra thing that the iPhone can’t manage: true multitasking. The Pre is simply one of the most important phones ever to have been announced!

Toshiba TG01 – taking Windows Mobile to new levels

Announced before MWC, the Toshiba TG01 is nonetheless making a starring appearance at the show. With the incredible specs of the phone it’s easy to see why, as well. Not only does it have the biggest screen of any mobile phones on the market, but the Toshiba TG01 also has the fastest processor, too, coming in at over 1GHz. That puts it firmly in ‘laptop-power’ territory, but with the standard WinMo interface, it would still be a clunky experience. Luckily, it doesn’t rely on the standard WinMo interface, instead using a bespoke 3D interface, custom designed for the Toshiba TG01. Best described as a series of revolving panels, it has a Venetian blind feel to it, with left and right swipes of the finger revealing different shortcuts and apps, as the 3D strips revolve in an incredibly smooth and fluid way. It really is a joy to use, and that’s the reason why, as well as being the most powerful Windows Mobile phone to date, it’s one of the nicest to use!

Sony Ericsson Idou – Entertainment Unlimited

As good as the Toshiba TG01 and the Palm Pre are, however, the real star of the show at this year’s MWC has been a new touchscreen phone from Sony Ericsson, and it truly is a beast. The interface in the Sony Ericsson Idou is what will evolve into the Symbian Foundation software (effectively, it’s Symbian S60 Touch, as used in the Nokia 5800), with a custom Sony Ericsson interface on top. And what an interface it is, with smooth, fluid finger controls, and instant access to your media and important apps. However, the Sony Ericsson Idou fuses that interface to much more power than the Palm Pre, as it’s also the first 12 megapixel phone to be announced in Europe. In essence, the Idou combines a truly sumptuous operating system, with a truly magnificent camera… and if that isn’t enough to make it the phone of the year, I don’t know what is!

iphone hints and tips

iphone hints and tips

To get ahead in iMobsters is easy. There’s no need to purchase anything although that will get you there quicker by giving you cash to buy what you need. The simple way to excel at iMobsters is to have no armies! No armies equals no upkeep. No upkeep means all the money you accumulate through the property you own is 100% yours and isn’t wasted on upkeep!

Yes, you won’t be able to defend yourself when you get attacked so what! As long as your money is banked they won’t gain anything apart from skill points. With all the money you save by not having any upkeep you’ll be able to buy more property which in turn makes more money. In just three weeks of having no kit for my mobsters I went from $5000 an hour to $64,000,000 – yes 64 million an hour!

When you decide that you are making enough per hour – then is the time to kit out your armies – they can have the best weapons and vehicles and the upkeep won’t matter because you will still be making millions per hour! That IS THE BEST WAY to get ahead and win in iMobsters. Sit back for a few weeks or a month, get attacked but so what? In a months time you’ll be the strongest one out there and can go out and hit the lot and earn millions in stealing other peoples money!

Keep banking regularly so you don’t get it pinched when you get attacked.

ANOTHER big tip – when you level up – don’t spend your skill points on increasing your health! Why? The lower your health, the less attacks it takes to get put you in hospital – less attacks means less money that can be pinched from you. I know I said bank everything – but you have to sleep!

Another tip? Before you go to sleep, or go somewhere where you won’t be playing iMobsters, attack people! Why? To get your health as low as possible – nobody can attack you if your health is 26 or less so attack people until you can get it as low as you can. If your health is say 5 for instance nobody will be able to attack you for maybe an hour or so – so you money is safe. It may not seem much but if you do this every time before you close the iMobsters game you will in the long run save millions of dollars which otherwise would have been stolen!

What to spend your skill points on? Increase your energy! The more energy you have the more missions you can play which means you gain skill points which means you can still level up without attacking people. So in conjunction with the above – you will make millions and still level up and have no upkeep!

Should I spend my skill points on attack or defense? No – it’s waste of time. Those skill points only apply to you in a fight. So if you have 50 in your mob, those points only count for you only so don’t make a squat of difference! Spend them energy!

Buy as much property as you can but watch the prices! You may be able to buy a condo that costs you a million and say, makes you $50,000. But just because that is the top one to buy doesn’t mean it’s the best! A casino might cost $250,000 and make you $25,000 – so for a million you can buy four of them – making you $100,000 instead of just $50,000 – so keep on an eye on all the property, work out how much money each one will make for how much you pay. Rather than one condo you may find that owning dozens of newspaper shacks is cheaper and earns more money!

When you see an in game ad offering honour points for downloading another game – do it! Try and resist the temptation to spend them though. Why? At level 10 the Godfather will give you $5,000 for 10 honour points – at level 75 he’ll give you $40,000,000 – 40 million! So save up your honour points and spend them wisely at a later stage. Never use them for increasing your energy. Why bother – you’ll be fully charged in an hour or so anyway.

Right those are the main tips for playing iMobsters. The same tips also apply to World at War, Zombies Live, Rockster and the other titles by Storm8.

iphone applications best free

The iPhone, being a revolutionary handset, has enforced radical changes in how people use cell phones. Also, it has become a key to a virtual gold mine wherein independent iPhone app developers can earn millions of dollars.

The Apple application store had been distinct and at the same time tumultuous because it had post changes in the way the mobile applications are delivered and developed. It had made an open market wherein developers can turn from rags to riches and earn money with minimal resources, as long as they have the talent and the luxury of time.

Apple has brought down the roadblocks to entry when it comes to creating iPhone applications. Although Apple will carry out 30% of the total sales, they will be responsible in providing the sales, development platforms, billing and distribution. This will then allow the developers to fully concentrate on the things they love or doing best without having the anxiety about the distribution, marketing and setting up payments.

After its launching on July 2008, the Apple Store had become a source of a developer’s dream to come to a reality. For instance, Steve Demeter, the developer of the popular iPhone game called Trism had declared that he had attained $250,000 profit in only two months time. He had a few people helping him whom he had paid $500 each. If the flow continues at this rate, Demeter will roughly earn $2 million by the end of next year.

Bart Decrem, CEO of Tapulous, had developed a free application called the Tap Tap Revenge which is a music-rhythm game that employs the use of the iPhone’s accelerometer and touch screen features had attain a milestone of a total of 1,000,000 downloads in two  weeks time after its launching. An estimated of 1.75 million users have downloaded the game, Tap Tap Revenge and Decrem expects to double it in the next months. To gain more profits, the company Tapulous had inserted advertisements in the game. In the near future, the company plans to release a new version for them to earn more money. Moreover, Decrem had been silent to disclose the exact profit money, but the estimated earning of the iPhone application that his company is earning about $5,000 to $10,000 daily.

For the above two developers, according to them, the recipe to success is paying attention to every detail, keeping the application alive and engaging in variety of game play and at the same time, spreading popularity. You must come up with the generic idea and implement it properly in order for you to stand out. Both Trism and Tap Tap Revenge was initially become known in the Jailbreak community and it call forth a loyal coming before it was launched in the Application store for a broader market. Both the developers of this application look at the App store to be an exciting landscape to enjoy and at the same time earn. They have been considered themselves as big fishes in the pond that have future plans in emerging in the iPhone applications market.

music iphone cases

One way users can counteract this aspect is through the use of Iphone skins and cases. Each accessory piece allows a user’s personal style of flair and personality to come shining through. With a variety of colors, subjects and design layouts to select from, the sky truly is the limit in this department.

Function
At its best, iphone skins transform the basic black design style into something a little more artistic and flattering. The basic black design may be appealing to many users and there is nothing wrong with that. For others, cell phones are looked at as an extension of personal style. Having a phone with the standard black assembly line design style does nothing to further that individual personality. These accessory pieces come into play and greatly expand the options available to customize the outside of the phone in much the same way that technology customizes the inside contents of the phone.

Concept
Iphone skins are a public declaration of personality. It gives users the chance to take a love for professional and college sports, music, arts and entertainment front and center for the whole world to see.  There are no tools or expert knowledge necessary to bring this accessory piece to an Iphone. All phones are created with the basic template design of a front and back cover along with side covers. A silver or metal material is utilized to create the side covers. It is the front and back covers that utilize the basic black color design.

Here is where many users look to employ customization to their Iphones. The skins enter the picture by providing a variety of options that transform this standard portion of the phone. A quick search of the internet will provide a great deal of companies who specialize in custom designed templates for Iphone cases and skins customization. Once a template design is selected the items are sent to the user.

The installation process is relatively straightforward. It calls for the removal of the basic phone plates on the front and back. These items will then be replaced with the customized items of the user’s selection. For those that does not feel comfortable making the switch, a visit to the cell phone provider works just as well. Once the Iphone skins are in place, there is a customized creation that allows the phone to stand out in the crowd.

Designs
Iphone skins are available in a wide range of designs guaranteed to suite every personality. Designs are as varied as the individual users of Iphones. Everything is available from sports teams, music groups and fashion to military branches and cars. Sports enthusiasts can take the love of the game to a public level by selecting a phone skin in the colors of their favorite team. Add a customized ring tone of the college fight song or team anthem to take fan appreciation to a whole new level.

Social and political causes such as the fight against cancer are important parts of society. Show support for a cause near and dear to the heart with Iphone skins for a cause. Celebrate the joy of the holidays year round with a specialty holiday skin design. Enjoy the elements of nature in the dead of winter with a nature themed skin design. Children and the young-at-heart can take the love of Disney with them wherever they go by putting a Disney themed skin on their Iphone.

For an even more personalize touch, users have the option to create a personal Iphone skin. Select a beloved photo and simply upload that into the skin design program on a retailer website. The end result will be a one-of-a-kind, customized Iphone skin that is unlike anything else on the planet. This feature is also great for business related Iphone skins. Companies can customize employee phones with the company logo or slogan.
